Athens-Clarke County Fire Station #9

Posted By on Mar 8, 2016 |

Breedlove Land Planning executed the site design for the Athens-Clarke County Fire Station Number #9.  Project highlights include a practical design which effectively separates pedestrian, vehicular and fire truck traffic, an underground stormwater management facility, and the use of an extensive native and adapted plant palette.  This project has received LEED® Silver Certification.

Breedlove Land Planning designed an innovative storm water management system for this project that successfully treats stormwater by removing 80% of total suspended solids and in excess of forty percent of phosphorous content.   Extra measures were utilized to control the 24-hour draw down of the detention system,  ensuring the protection of downstream channels as well as exceeding the local issuing authority requirements.

This unique approach also promotes the conservation of open space and incorporates a native, drought tolerant plant palette to eliminate the need for irrigation.
